Are the masks washable?
All of our mask models can be hand-washed with hot water and a mild detergent , alcohol wipes or alcohol spray. Always take out the disposable filter first before washing the mask. For more details about how to take out the disposable filter please download the PDF manual.
Can I wash the filter?
Our filters are not washable.
Under emergency conditions you might re-use the filter after washing it with hot water and let it completely dry before next use. However, washing the filter will decrease it's efficiency and will not clear the filter media of microscopic particles.
How long can I use it?
The mask itself can be used for more than 2 years. The recommended filter replacement period is up to 80 hours or 5 days of regular use. In areas with greater pollution the recommendation is for filters to be changed more frequently - even on a daily basis. Each filter lifetime depends on many factors such as the severity of pollution and the amount of particulate matter that is filtered. In case the filter becomes dark, clogged or damaged, it needs to be replaced.
What does the valve do?
The valve assists in quick exhalation of CO2 from your mask. It also prevents the mask from becoming moist due to exhalation.
Are the filters N95?
The filters are KN95 rated. For more information about test reports and a comparison with N95 rating please refer to this article by 3M.
What does the mask filter?
Our masks are the ARIASHIELD™️ answer to the constantly growing threat of harmful airborne particles and air pollution. The cutting edge filter technology effectively removes more than 95% of all the dust, allergens, post combustion particles, shavings, odors, scents, mold, mold spores, particles in wildfire smoke, smaller particulate matter such as PM 2.5 and PM 3.0 air pollution gasses and other airborne contaminants. The activated carbon layer provides additional chemical protection.
What is PM 10, PM 2.5 and particulate matter?
Particulate matter (PM 2.5), refers to particles in the air that cause pollution. These particles are from a variety of sources such as:
The ‘2.5’ in PM 2.5 refers to the size of the pollutant in micrometers. Additionally, particulate pollutants vary in size and the smaller they are, the more damage they cause to your health. PM 10 is particulates that have a diameter of 10 micrometers or less. Dust particles are the main source of PM 10.
Can our mask be used in hospital or clinic environment?
Unfortunately the ARIASHIELD masks are not designed to be used in a hospital setting by healthcare workers. Since it is not a single use item and you would not want to dispose of it after contact with an infected patient. The hospital you work at should have an infection control policy which must be used when dealing with patients.
